Dear Friends and Neighbors of Providence Point,
We are writing to urge you to join us in voting YES for the Issaquah School District levies on February 9 th. We have studied the situation carefully before deciding to lend our support. One thing we concluded at the end of the process was that Issaquah is a dynamic school district that works hard to solve the problems of growth, the challenges of state and federal regulations and funding restrictions. This is all done with the goal of doing what is best for the young people of this community and with a reasonable request for funds from the citizens.
The package that will be presented to the voters includes three replacement levies (all renewals of expiring levies): a Maintenance and Operations levy, the bread and butter of our District budget; a Transportation levy to replace old buses; and a Capital Projects levy, which funds technology that will keep our students competitive in a global economy and critical repairs to our school buildings to maintain our community investment. We are pleased that all this can be accomplished with no tax increase – some of us may even see a small tax decrease.
We’ve all experienced success in life, much of which was made possible by the education we received. Our schools were there for us when we needed them, and now we have the opportunity to be sure that precious stepping stone – a good education – is there for our children and grandchildren. One way of doing this is to support the three levies on February 9th. Even if you do not have family members in the district, quality public schools benefit everyone in the community. They are one of the main drivers of high property values, low crime rates, and a vibrant regional economy.
We urge you to support the Issaquah School District by voting YES three times:
- Vote YES for the Maintenance and Operations Levy
- Vote YES for the Transportation Levy
- Vote YES for the Capital Projects Levy
Sincerely - - Your Neighbors at Providence Point,
